Caps lock causes computer to freeze

Hey,
This may seem weird, but when I use the caps lock button, my computer gets
very slow and sometimes freezes. It will often take over 5 minutes to type a
5 letter word. Any ideas as to why this is happening or how I can fix it?

it is a USB or PS2 keyboard, does it have any custom software for it that
you installed, that may display on screen "CAPS LOCK" or "NUM LOCK" etc,
that could be faulty?
