Can't view some sites on my computer (but can on others)

Hello again! I have this annoying problem that I don't know how to fix.
Every time I try to go to my hotmail or facebook site, I either can't get in
or I have to wait a very long time. Here's what happns: I go to the log-in
page of one or the other, I type in my username and password, and then the
page goes blank for a very long time (the tab shows the blue loading circle
but the computer icon in the bottom right corner goes blank). If I try to
acces these websites from other computers I have no trouble at all and they
appear right away.

Here's what I know. I have Trend Micro Pc-cillin that blocks some websites
(but it tells me if something is blocked, instead of stalling a site). I
have Linksys wireless internet (but so does the other computer in my house).
Not too long ago I was trying a lot of different things to destroy the
viruses on my computer that were causing pop-ups (Trend Micro support was
telling me what to do), and now it seems like the pop-ups are gone. I
disabled some add-on to try to make my internet faster. (I never know what I
need and don't need for add-ons)

If you can help me I would be so grateful. Thank you! (I forget if my
Internet Explorer is 6 or higher)

Run a /thorough/ check for hijackware, including posting your hijackthis log
to an appropriate forum.

When all else fails, HijackThis v2.0.2
(http://aumha.org/downloads/hijackthis.zip) is the preferred tool to use.
It will help you to both identify and remove any hijackware/spyware with
assistance from an expert. **Post your log to

by an expert in such matters, not here.**

If the procedures look too complex - and there is no shame in admitting this
isn't your cup of tea - take the machine to a local, reputable and
independent (i.e., not BigBoxStoreUSA) computer repair shop.

Thanks for the advice. Do you think that if I were to uninstall and
reinstall internet explorer, that it might help? (By starting over?) Would I
lose all of my favorites if I did that? Thank you.

Always state your Windows version and your IE version when posting to this
or any other Microsoft newsgroup, please.

Given what you told us in your first post, reinstalling IE (whatever version
it is) will not help at all. If the machine's still infected (as I suspect
it may be), Windows has been compromised, not IE.
