Can't view Canon Pwrsht S45 in My Computer when connected

When I plug in my Canon Pwrsht S45 to the computer to download pics, Win XP
runs the normal *found new hardware* program to install new software. It
can't find the necessary software on the net, but this has never been a
problem on other computers using XP since I'll download pics to the hard
drive using 1 of 2 methods:
1) XP detects the camera and asks me what I want to do with the photos
2) I access the camera via My Computer and drag the selected pics to a
folder on the drive.

But XP doesn't seem to detect what's on the camera and I can't see the
camera itself when I go to My COmputer folder and try to access the photos
that way.
Also, I can't remember what this means, but when I plug the camera in, I get
the sound similar to the *disconnected device* sound I get when I unplug the
camera. But it *dings* 3 times instead of the 2-note disconnected sound.
Am I making any sense? Sorry for being clueless. Can anyone tell me how to
get XP to display my Canon Pwrsht S45 in My Computer so I can download the
photos?
Thanks

Hello,

You'll need to install the WIA driver that came with the camera or download
it from the Canon website. After installing that driver, Windows will
recognize your camera. It's probable that the other computers you have used
to download from this camera did have the WIA driver installed already.

Let us know how that goes.

Thanks,
