Can't use usb flash drive or card reader

Recently purchased SanDisk usb flash drive and usb card reader/writer. Both
work on XP based HP laptop and HP dektop. They don't work on XP based Sony
Vaio desktop. When plugged into both HPs, got 'found new hardware' dialog
followed by 'device installed and working'. The Vaio prompts for a disk
containing drivers.

When plugged into usb port on Vaio, both leds light up, so power seems to be
ok. Neither are visable in 'My Computer or Windows Explorer drive listings.
Sony referred me to a driver download page, but didn't say which driver file
to download. Nothing listed described my problem.

Any ideas?

Rick, it sounds like u may have a SanDisk Imagemate model SDDR-91. Your part
number/model # should be on the underside of your reader. Go to
www.SanDisk.com and there is a "Retail/consumer" tab along the top(in red).
It has a drop down menu below it with Driver Downloads. Click on that and it
will take you to a list of products and models numbers. Click on your model
number and it will take you to the driver download you need. If your driver
is already native to XP then it will also give you installation instructions.
Either way everythng u need should be there. I too had to do it about a
month ago. Good Luck. Regards Bob
