Can't upload any pics??

Hi. I hope someone here can help me Please!! I have been trying to build a
website, But as soon as I publish, ALL of the images show the dreaded "RED
X". It's not just my pictures (as if I had a wrong extention or something) it
is ALL graphics! Even the template. I was using Yahoo Sitebuilder, and thier
tech support could upload fine, so they said it was my PC. I then went to MS
Frontpage, and Dreamweaver. Same thing. I have the latest JAVA, I've closed
ALL of my firewall, A/V, and blocker software, I even went as far as to D/L
(SP2) for XP Home. Still I can't upload anything. Now I can't even attach
pics to my email ... (again the "red x"). I have gone through all my
settings, and everything seems fine. I looked through all the posts, but all
that I see are issues with viewing sites, but nothing for "Upload" problems.
Can someone PLEASE help me? Any ideas what the problem may be?
Thanks, Merlin

Most of the contents of this page are from Don Varnau and Mike Burgess

There are many possible causes and solutions.
Try the quick, easy fix first. Clear the IE cache from IE> Tools> Internet
Options> General> Delete files and Delete offline content. Reset the TIF
folder size to about 50MB (Settings button) and clear it occasionally.

Additional information from Mike Burgess:

Are you using a Firewall or "filtering software"?

Several of these are known to cause problems:
1) Zone Alarm Pro [Private Header Info - enabled?]
Reset "Ad Blocking" and "Cookie Control" to "medium"
"Mobile Code Control" = Off

2) Symantec (ISS\NIS)[Enable Browser Privacy - enabled]
Active Content - "Allow All Script To Execute"
Problem: some sites cannot detect the 128 bit encryption
Solution: Completely remove and reinstall NIS.

3) Any "ad blocking" software that blocks "http_referrer"
or contains entries that are blocking access to the desired site.

4) HOSTS file that contains entries that are blocking access to the desired
site.

5) Cookie blocking software that are blocking "required" Cookies.

6) Pop-up blockers that are stripping header\url info.

7) WebWasher Standard Filter/URL Filter

8) Make sure the following registry entry is not corrupt:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet
Settings]
"User Agent"="Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Win32)"

Note: "Win32" = Windows 98\ME
Other versions = (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.0;)

To check your "User Agent":
Paste the below into the Address Bar and view the output:

javascript:navigator.userAgent

[Example WinME output]
Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows 98; Win 9x 4.90)

Merlin,
I am not going to "suppose" anything here.... so, with that said: Are
you sure the pathway to your images is correct? This is usually the
problem.. Without more info on what is going on, I am just taking a stab in
the dark. Any tiny error in the pathway will result in red x's.. Some
servers are also "case" sensitive.. Also, in your filenames, it is best to
not have ANY spaces.. If you need a space between words in the filenames,
use either a - (dash) or _ (underscore). These are just a few things to
look at.. If you think all of your coding is correct and it still won't
work, you might send me a code page of what you are trying to do and I will
look at it to see if I can see anything messed up.
You will have to clean up my reply address on here and I would prefer that
you sent it as an attached Notepad file...
HTH,
