cant upgrade windows 2000 professional

i can't upgrade windows 2000 professional to window xp home edition i get an error message stating my windows version cant upgrade or something like that and wont do anything. the disc wont allow me to install it as new since the cd is an upgrade cd. so now what can i do? please help

If you want to upgrade from win2000 pro, you'd have to use Win XP Pro. Not
home.

Greetings --

Win2K can be upgraded to WinXP Pro, but not to WinXP Home. That
would be why Win2K wasn't listed as a qualifying product on the box.

Simply boot from the WinXP installation CD. You'll be offered
the opportunity to delete, create, and format partitions as part of
the installation process. (You may need to re-arrange the order of
boot devices in the PC's BIOS to boot from the CD.)
