I have seen a number of posts from people having problems updating their
Windows Defender definitions. I, too, saw the "unable to complete update"
error, but now I see no way to try again. I do not have anything that says
"check for new definitions" or anything like that.
On a second note, I have 2 items that I wish to set to "Ignore". When I
choose this option and select apply, Defender acts as if it is trying to do
something (there is disk activity) but then it fails with the message
"Windows Defender encountered an error: 0x8050800c. An unexpected problem
occurred. Install any available updates, and then try to start the program
again." However, as I have already stated, there seems to be no way to
search for or install any updates.
