Can't uninstall programs

Henry LaMuth

I have a couple of programs I just cannot get to uninstall. The
process starts using add remove and then stops with a message that
some error was encountered. The programs in question are two cd buring
apps that Sony supplies. They do not have their own uninstall routines
like some programs. They were lousy a few years ago but I thought I
would take another look at their latest incarnations. They are still
lousy but now I can't uninstall them.

I use to have an applet that professed to be able to remove anything
permanently...total eradication. In a recent rebuild of my system this
disappeared. Any suggestions on what this is and how well it
works...and any other ways to remove these two programs. Specifically,
they are from BHA and are called B's clips and B's Gold....they don't
light my fire and I want them GONE. Sorry, I get emotional about such
things.

Any help would be appreciated.

First try to install these again. Most likely there is one or more files
that are corrupted that are needed for the uninstall.

Good thought, but.....

When I use the same CD and go throug the install sequence, it asks if
I want to uninstall. Can't re-install...either yes uninstall or it
closes the window and does nothing. But....It won't uninstall either.
Same glitch as in windows add/remove. So, I really need the cleaner
program to by-pass everthing and just plain remove it permanently. Any
idea where to find it? Probably was a shareware I need to relocate.

I have some success by renaming the folder to where the program was
installed and then try to re-install.

Renaming didn't work...nothing worked. I finally went in to the
registry and searched for references and removed them and then did a
manual delete of all the files/subdirectories and links/icons I could
find with search and with Windows Explorer. There are likely dll's in
windows that are orphans now and some open references in the
Registry... I should be able to automatically scan for all of these
and remove them. That's all I can think to do to get rid of these
pesky programs. Bad design.

Thanx for the suggestions.

It's NOT a windows problem. It's a bad third party app.

None of the free cleaner programs or programs I find that sound
like they would forceably remove an application actually do that.
There are some $30 programs that sound like that is what they would
do...but I took a more manual approach and nothing bad has
happened.....yet!!
