Uninstalling unlisted programs

Bob

I want to uninstall a program that (a) does not have it's own uninstaller,
and, (b) is not listed in the "add or remove programs" list. It is Roxio
DVD and CD Creator 6. I have gone to their support site and it has a
program called Roxizap but the instructions for use say to use the "add or
remove programs" uninstaller first. Obviously, I can't do that.

Is there a free program installer independent of the XP one that can find
the program?

Or is there another better way?

If the Roxio program is not listed in Add/Remove Programs (and are you
sure it is still installed?), then obviously you can't remove it from
there. Try the Roxizap program. Set a System Restore point first as a
little extra insurance.

Resolution:

I'm stupid . . . or Roxio is, not sure who to blame. The program was in the
"add or remove" list as "EASY, etc." while it is listed on the programs list
as "ROXIO, etc.". I found it, uninstalled with "add or remove", ran the
"Roxizap" and then ran Registry Mechanic to clean the residue left behind.

Thanks for your help.

I'm glad you found it and solved your problem. I would not suggest
running registry cleaners unless you really know what you are doing,
however. They are a good way to hose your system.

Be careful with registry cleaners. They can cause more problems than they
solve. Best to avoid them. There have been several posts in the past
couple of days where the system was messed up as a result of using a
registry cleaner.
