Can't uninstall .NET Compact Framework V2.0

O

olrt

Hello, I'm struggling to uninstall it !!! :-(
I'm local admin of my machine.
In the Add/Remove programs list, I click on ".NET Compact Framework
V2.0".
There's only the "Modify" button that is enabled.
When I click on it, I've a popup which says :
"The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is
unavailable".
So, in the "Use feature from", I specify the path to the file
NETCFSetupv2.msi
(local path c:\...\NETCFSetupv2.msi)
(I downloaded this file believing that it would help solve my problem).
I click OK and I'm gratified with the following popup which says :
"The file ...\NETCFSetupv2.msi is not a valid installation package for
the
product Microsoft .NET Compact Framework 2.0. Try to find a the
installation package
'NETCFSetupv2.msi' in a folder from which you can install Microsoft
..NET
Compact Framework 2.0".

Can someone help me please ??
Thanks !
Olivier.

Hi,
Do you have CF 2.0 installed in your device? Can you see it in "Remove
Programs" utility of your device?

What device are you using? Some more info maybe vould be helpful.

CF 2.0 is installed in your device using a .cab file. Visual Studio
2005 deploys and install CF 2.0 in the device automatically, but if you
want to do it manually, you should use copy the corresponding .cab file
in the device and then execute it by clicking it. You can better
understand differences between cab files and which to choose by reading
this blog entry:

Post back to forum if you still have got problems.

Sorry, no idea then.

I've tried to uninstall CF 2.0 from my PC and first steps of the
uninstallation process seem to work ok.

Logically, don't want to uninstall CF 2.0, just in case ;-)

I understand you installed CF 2.0 from the .msi you donwloaded from
Microsoft or when installing Visual Studio 2005.

Regards and good luck.

Just like with any other MSI, you need _original_ MSI available to
uninstall.

It appears it was installed from network which is no longer available.

MSI on Microsoft download page was recently updated, so it's not original.

Please make sure you have access to original MSI.

The problem is that I deleted the source MSI.
Do you think I can retrieve the MSI from the Web
with the version I installed ??

Yes, that is a problem as it's no longer available as a separate download
from Microsoft, sorry.

It is available as part of NDP SDK if you willing to download 300+ Megs.

Alternatively you could use one of these registry cleaning tools to get rid
of it.

Or maybe I could try to search for the log (setup.log ??) created
during
install so as to remove the files and regkeys manually ??
Do you have clues about where to search ?
