Can't Uninstall IE6 - Missing Shortcuts

I'm not sure what happened to my PC, but I tend to think
my son had something to do with it...

My IE6 is completely screwed up. I used to have shortcuts
on my taskbar, they are gone - the icon on my desktop is
gone along with the option to start explorer from the
Start/Program path. It completely disappeared from the
program list. I can't go into Settings-Control panel to
uninstall it. It doesn't appear.

How do I remove and re-install IE6? My Windows Update,
which used to be very fast, now takes 10 minutes to access
the Microsoft web page.

BTW, I cleaned the hard drives with Adaware and Norton
Anti-Virus.
