Can't uninstall CDRW/DVDRW Drives

Can someone tell me why I can't uninstall these drives. When I go to Device
Manager and try to uninstall Everything freezes or the uninstall fails. Any
advice...

Why not just unhook the IDE cable and power hook from the drive??

OK, But that doesn't address the issue as to why it won't uninstall by the
usual method. I normally can uninstall and reinstall a device without having
to open the case etc.

Maybe you should try to uninstall in safe mode.
