cant start iin safe mode

when I try to start in safe mode it skips over the screen that ask what
operating system . I would like to start in safe mode to scan for viruses
 
Normally, you would press the F8 key to boot into Safe Mode.
However, some keyboards do not allow the use of F keys unless
you first press the FLock key. While booting, press the FLock
key, then press the F8 key.
