can't set folder attributes

for some reason, all my folders automatically set
themselves to "read only" and when i go to change it,
windoz won't let me it stays on read only. But all the
files inside arn't they are normal. Any assistance would
be appreciated

And that behavior is normal. Ignore the directory (folder) flag.
The files in the directory can be changed.
