Restoring Folder/w attributes that was relocated.

I have applied attributes to a folder , hidden, read-only, and encrypted. I
have moved the folder from one partition to another and formated the first.
Now All the files in the folder are not readable, I've tried moving them to
the first partition and succeeded only under safe-mode, however I still can't
open any of the files in the folder. Does formatting the partition coused
this? How can I restore that folder?

Using WinXP 32-bit Pro.

Using the Encrypting File System (EFS) is flirting with disaster
unless you are very careful. The keys to decrypt the encrypted files
are contained in certificates in Windows and linked to your username
and password. It is essential that you back up these certificates.
If the partition you formatted was one that contained your Windows
operating system, you may have lost your certificate and thus must
restore it from your backup. Also, the partition you copied it to
must be formatted NTFS. See:

"Best practices for the Encrypting File System"
<http://support.microsoft.com/kb/223316/>

I would not use EFS myself. My preference for encrypting
requirements that you seem to need is the freeware "Truecrypt". It
is very secure, has a good pedigree, and is very forgiving when
moving container files from place to place or even over a network.
