Can't Send - Outlook Express 2001

I can receive, but can't send. I get the following message:

The connection to the server has failed.
Account: 'pop.1and1.com', Server: 'smtp.1and1.com',
Protocol: SMTP, Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error:
10060, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E

any suggestions. Thanks.
 
There is no such beast. Check Help->:about for your exact version.

the (insert latest virus name here) virus, all mail sent to my personal
account will be deleted without reading.
