I keep getting the following message everything was working fine until last
night

The connection to the server has failed. Subject 'test', Account:
'www.apexliftservices.co.uk', Server: 'www.apexliftservices.co.uk',
Protocol: SMTP, Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 10060, Error
Number: 0x800CCC0E

That account as never worked with those server names, it is a website
address, contact Sky for the correct server set up information for your
email account.

www.apexliftservices.co.uk and mail.apexliftservices.co.uk are
aliases for the same server, so this is not an issue of a wrong server
name. I attempted telnet connections on ports 25 and 110, and the
server responded appropriately.

The symptom you experienced can be caused by interference from
an antivirus program. Which antivirus are you running?
As a minimum, email scanning in the antivirus should be turned off,
although that may not be sufficient to eliminate all bad effects.
In a worst case scenario, your antivirus may need to be uninstalled.

Email scanning in any antivirus should be disabled, for reasons
explained here:

If no improvement after disabling email scanning, consider upgrading
to Windows Live Mail, because it is less prone to suffering bad effects
from overly intrusive antivirus programs:
