cant send mail anymore

Hi, all of a sudden i can't seem to send mail, but can receive mail fine. I
have had no problems for months but now this.

Many people seem plagued by this, but the answers are all very similar, and
don't seem to work for me.

The connection to the server has failed. Subject 'Qualification Card',
Account: 'madasafish', Server: 'mail.madasfish.com', Protocol: SMTP, Port:
25, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 10060, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E

I am running Vista basic with SP1.
I have AVG free installed, and use windows firewall.
I am pretty sure that there was a demo Norton product installed, but I have
used the Norton RemovalTool to deal with this.

Any ideas?

Two possibilities. When you got that error message, was your Internet
connection provided by Madasfish? If not, that would explain the problem.

Also, when you installed AVG did you use the default install method?
If so, uninstall it, then reinstall using the custom install option, which will
then enable you to deselect the troublesome email scanning module.
