Can't Send Link in IE7

After installing SP3 I can't send a Web Site Link or Page. This is the only
glitch since installeing SP3

In IE7/Internet Options/Programs there is no program listed for Email. The
only choice in the drop down is <Windows Live Mail>, what ever that is.
Outlook Express is selected as Default in OLE.

My other Dell Computer with SP2/IE7 Outlook Express is listed for Email in
IE7/Internet Options/Progreams and works ok. And OLE is shown in the drop
down.

I have reinstalled IE7 and OLE but no help.

Need help on this one !

You probably installed Windows Live Mail (http://download.live.com/wlmail)
when you installed, e.g., Windows Live Messenger or Windows Live Toolbar
using the Windows Live Essentials "all-in-one" installer and accepted the
default of installing all of the Windows Live applications (i.e., Windows
Live Messenger, Mail, Toolbar, Writer, Family Safety, Photo Gallery, and
Movie Maker beta).

When you install Windows Live Mail, your OE data is automatically imported
into it, several OE shortcuts are deleted, and it becomes your default Mail
Client.

To make OE your default again:

1. http://www.oehelp.com/oedef.aspx; then...

2a. http://www.oehelp.com/oelnk.aspx

2b. Start [ | Control Panel | Add/Remove Programs ] | Set Program Access and
Defaults | Email | ...

Hi Fred,

I'm not around a workstation that has IE7 installed, but you should be
able to click on the icon at the far left of the address bar and drag it
to an open mail window (or anywhere for that matter).

Using IE6 and Mozilla Thunderbird, I just dragged the "e" icon onto this
window and let go:
http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com/

It should work the same in IE7.

Also check your "Set Program Access and Defaults" to set your mail client.

You could uninstall IE7 and go back to IE6 (although IE7 should work
also), but if SP3 was installed after IE7, you'd have to uninstall SP3
and then uninstall IE7, then reapply SP3.

I only installed SP3, IE7/OLE didn't installed the other stuff. Don't know
what happened, have always been careful.

Well, /someone/ installed Windows Live Mail using the Windows Live
Essentials installer (which does not include SP3 or IE7), Fred. Is Window
Live Mail and/or anything else named Windows Live (still) listed in
Add/Remove Programs?
I only installed SP3, IE7/OLE didn't installed the other stuff. Don't

Nope, Windows Live not listed in A/R Programs.
I remember some time ago long before installing SP3 that I install Windows
Live for some reason and then removed it. Think it was to try it before
installing it on my wife's Dell. She uses it. Funny this glitch cam up on my
Dell after SP3.
Oh well all seems to work great now. BTW installed SP3 in Safe Mode. I
install programs in SM when I can.
Think I'll do a C:\ search for Windows Live.
