can't send emails

Does you connection to that server cross over from one internet provider's
equipment to another's before it reaches the server? I'm not sure if the
parts of AT&T other than bellsouth.net count as a different provider. If
there is such a crossover, connections to port 25 are likely to be blocked
to cause problems for spammers, and you need to ask bellsouth.net if
their outgoing mail server allows you to use some other port, and if so,
where to find the details. Just trying all the ports is a very slow way to
find out, since there are about 65,000 ports available and it's unlikely
that more than a few of them will accept outgoing mail.

The link you provided didn't work. It sent me to a page that is no longer
available. I'll call AT&T again. Thanks for your help! Now I at least know
what to ask!! Though they probably have no clue b/c they've always told me to
make sure the port number was 25. Since you have bellsouth, what do you have
as your port?

I'm using port 25, but I shouldn't have such a crossover. However, I
recently
ran a tracert to that server and the route went to pacbell and then back to
bellsouth.net, so it seems that unexpected crossovers are likely.

If they don't, try using one of the options of that page to send a complaint
about this to bellsouth.net.

has problems for some users.

I've found some instructions saying that if port 25 won't work for you, you
should at least still be able to use webmail at:

That page is for mainstream AT&T users, not for the BellSouth division
which hasn't been fully integrated into the AT&T family yet.
