Hi, Guys

Im able to receive e-mails, but just cant send them in my Windows Mail. I
read everything here that could help, but still not working.

I've already uninstall my Norton program and now i'm using avast! without
the e-mail scanning. Here's the error that I get:

The connection to the server has failed. Subject 'Teste!', Account: 'Rafa
Prada - UOL', Server: 'smtps.uol.com.br', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 25,
Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 10060, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E

I'm using a new laptop and I'm from Brazil. Currently, I'm in Canada, can it
be a problem?

Thanks for reading,

If your connection to the server uses another internet provider's equipment
on the way to uol.com.br, as it probably does for such a long connection,
connections to port 25 are often blocked to cause trouble for spammers.
If so you have two choices of what to do. 1. You can ask uol.com.br if
their email server listens for outgoing mail on any port other than port 25,
and if so, the details of switching to the other port. 2. You can switch
to
using your Canadian internet provider's outgoing email server while you're
there. Ask them for the instructions. Or, tell us who it is and see if
anyone here already knows where to find the instructions.

As an alternate to the two workarounds mentioned by Robert, you can
get a free Gmail account, configure it for POP/SMTP, then use that account
for your sending chores while away from your home ISP.

Hi, Robert

Thank you for attention e answer. I talk to my ISP, but there's no other
door than 25 to operate outgoing messagens from Canada.

About my Canadian server, I use Tellus here. Does anybody know what door
they use???

So, I'll have to wait and see if somebody here had the same problem and
found a solution.

Onde againd, Robert, thank you very much!

Hello, Gary

Actually, it's a very good way to solve the problem, thank you very much!
Buuuut.....It would be a huge change and I'll have to warn every single one
about my mail change!

Is there any other way?

Thank you very much,

There are two ways to do this:

a) Install the Gmail account as a separate account in your
Windows Mail, but use your existing email address as the 'From'
address in that new account.

or

b) Modify your existing email account by changing only the SMTP
server name*.

Either way, your correspondents will not notice any difference.

The other way would be to contact TELUS and get their SMTP
server information from them.

*Note: Gmail's SMTP server requires changing the port from 25
to 465.

Hi, Gary!

Once again, thank you for your help.

Just one more question! Do you think that just because I'm out of my country
I'm not being able to send e-mails?

Thanks again,

Rafa Prada

This problem occurs because the ownership of the SMTP server you are
trying to use is different than the provider of your Internet connectivity.
Internet connectivity providers will only let you use the port 25 SMTP server
that belongs to their network. For more on this topic, see
