What would prevent windows from getting updates? I just got this pc. It was
set up by BestBuy. They installed Norton Anti-virus and Webroot SpySweeper
and "fine-tuned" it. They also did all of the updates that were available at
the time (a couple of weeks ago.) I knew there were some new updates
available now and they hadn't downloaded automatically even though they were
suppose to, so I went to get them. I go to the website, it tells me it is
going to check to see if I have the latest software needed to get the
updates; apparently I have because it gives me the screen where I can pick
Express or Custom. If I check on either, it gives me a screen that says it's
checking for updates for my pc and that's all it does. I never get the list
of updates. There isn't all that much running on this pc that should
interfere. There's the windows firewall. I can't believe it would stop the
updates, but I tried turning it off. I also tried adding the windows update
exe to the exceptions, But no success. I looked for settings in Spy Sweeper,
but couldn't find any that exactly fit, but I tried playing with them anyway.
I also shut down Spy Sweeper, but still no success. I looked at Norton
antivirus, but there aren't any settings that would really block any thing.
So what could it be?
