WinXP home w/built in firewall on, problem: click to see status of
connection, nothing. also, internet explorer hangs sometimes when clicking
on links from MS pages and in newsgroups. updated NAV, Adaware, Spybot,
scanned, nothing unusual showed up.
any suggestions? thanks........Sk8

If you go to the properties of your network connection and select "display
an icon when connected" you should see it in your system tray - hovering
your mouse over that icon will tell you the status of your connection.

Re your IE problems - more info might help. Only on MS pages? Any errors?

hey, thanks for your reply, it helped a bit but the problem was, that when I
went to control panel/internet connections/network connections and
right-clicked my connection to see the status nothing happened, same as the
network tasks column on the left. the IE probs were not long lasting after
closing a couple open programs (yahoo messenger etc). but the network
connection in the notification area works fine, can see the status from
there and all, nothing unusual.
