can't see the apply button

My dad was trying to chnage the resolution on his computer, and changed
something so that now his windows take up 3/4 of the screen and there is no
way to change the resolution, and no apply button (only part of the window is
showing, no ability to scroll). How do I fix it for him?

Assuming we're talking about Vista, click on the start orb (lower left).
Navigate to Control Panel and choose Personalization. He should be able to
reset the resolution from there.
If he can't even access the start orb, he can press the Windows key on his
keyboard and that should open the start menu to allow him to get to Control
Panel, etc. The Windows key is usually next to the CTRL or ALT key. Should
have a Windows flag logo on it, thought it might be hard to make out what it
is.

To continue from where DP left off, just click 'Display Settings'. If that
does not work, simply try a system restore.

Kari,

See if this can help you........

Press ALT + SPACEBAR on your keyboard. The program's shortcut menu will be
displayed. On the menu that appears, click Move. Use your LEFT ARROW, RIGHT
ARROW, UP ARROW, or DOWN ARROW keys to move the window so you can see the
Apply Button.

The problem is that when he gets the window up (to change the resolution),
the sliding bar that changes the resolution and the apply button aren't
accessible. There is no way to scroll down and get to that part of the
window, and no way to resize the window. It cuts off right above the place he
needs. There were some other helpful hints that I'm going to have him try
today, thanks! (yes, it's Vista)

usually you can either move the window so the button is visible or use the
tab button to change focus to the 'apply' button even when not visible
onscreen. then hit enter to 'click' the apply button.

Just change the resolution to something higher and hit enter.
It should resize the window, or use 6 tab keys, 2 right arrows,
and hit enter.
