Can't see page outline when opening 07 powerpoint in 03 version

I created PPTX files (powerpoint 07)... when I transfer them to another user
that has Powerpoint 03 installed, he can't expand the outline box (to see the
bullets). Have tried with 07 format and after saving in 03 format.... same
issue.

Yes we can.
In 07, we do "view/normal" and then the outline tab. Each page is shown and
we can double click the "box" to either expand or compress.

On 03, we see the box but it won't expand or compress

Thanks for any guidance.

Thanks... it will apply colors and templates but still can't see the
"outline" formatted
Title
- bullet 1
- bullet 2
- sub bullet
won't expand.

Chiming in late, I have seen similar issues. When it PPT2003 normal
view, does the content of the slide show in the slide preview pane?
And does the show appear more or less normal when actually viewed as a
show?

What I have narrowed things down to is if the text in PPT2007 is in a
"content" placeholder on a layout, then that text does not appear in
outline view in PPT2003 or earlier. What I do is create another layout
that uses just the "text" placeholder, and apply that layout to all
the slides, and then the text will appear in the outline in PPT2003.

I do not regularily use PPT2003, and I don't use bullet levels so I
may not be seeing the same as you, but it sounds very similar.

Dear Villem:

Yes - all looks well on the 2003 side except the "outline" view does not
show up... all we see is the page title but the text in the lower text box
doesn't appear in bulleted form on the outline view. It doesn't matter if I
start with a pptx file or ppt file (if it's created in 07).

Hi JohnB

I've just tested it here and it works for me:
- I created a file in 07 with 3 slides & 2 levels of bullets
- Saved as pptx
- Opened in 03 and couldn't see the bullets in outline view
- Selected slides and clicked 'title & text' layout in slide layout taskpane
- No change to formatting, but I can now see the bullets in outline view

Is that what you have done too? Perhaps you could send me a sample slide to
look at? lucyATaneasiertomorrowDOTcomDOTau

Thank you so much... your instructions worked. They were much clearer than
the online link.

May your week be especially good!

Dear Echo:
Thanks for the help. Lucy's last post got me fixed.... her info is much
clearer than the MS help file.

Have a great week!

When you click the Layout button on the Home tab, which layout is used?

Default 2007 theme "office theme"... generally 'title and content' page
type.
