I have replaced my motherbaord and added hot swap racks.
The hard drive I have been using is not recognized by
windows, but an older one operates just fine. When I go
into setup it says "not installed" after I ask it to find
the drive. I then take it out and replace it with the
older drive and it boots right up and works just fine.

So, what's your problem? You didn't ask a question. Do you want to know if
the drive is defective? Do you want to know if you have to reload Windows?
Do you want to know if your M/B is toast?

WHAT DO YOU WANT TO KNOW?????

Does your bios see the hard drive? If it does not, remove the drive from the
hot swap racks (you can't hot swap the system drive anyway). If you can now
see the drive, you will have to perform a repair install. Unless you changed
the M/B with exactly the same M/B, you almost always have to perform a
repair install.
