Can't see design templates

D

David

Hello All,
I'm new to this powerpoint so bear with me if this is a
dumb question.
I tried to use 'Mountain Top' template, and others, but all
I get is a small change in the slide pane. There isn't a
picture like the template, only the title and subtitle
placeholders. If I change to the slide show I see the
picture and if I save I see a preview if the file with
picture. But when I open I do not see anything. Am I
missing something here?
Thanks in advance!
David

It sounds like a video driver problem. An easy thing to try is to go to the
website of your video card's manufacturer, or if you have a laptop, go to
the laptop manufacturer's website. Look for a current driver for your card
and your version of Windows.

Sonia,
Thanks for the reply! My wife has bad eye sight and set the
screen for large icons and less clutter. So the images
would not show. I can get the images to show if I go to the
toolbar and change the 'color/grayscale' to 'color'. It is
by default 'high contrast' when powerpoint opens. Can I
change the default to stay 'color'?
Thanks,
David

That's actually the source of the problem and is a Windows setting. The
Help File says:

View slides in high contrast
Displaying slides in high contrast is supported by Microsoft Windows 98,
Microsoft Windows 2000, Microsoft Windows Millennium Edition, or later.

1.. On the Windows Start menu, point to Settings, and then click Control
Panel.
2.. Double-click the Accessibility Options icon.
3.. On the Display tab, select the Use High Contrast check box.
4.. Click OK.
5.. On the View menu in Microsoft PowerPoint, point to Color/Grayscale,
and then click High Contrast.
Note The high-contrast setting works for viewing slides and thumbnails in
normal and slide sorter view. In slide show view, slides are displayed as
you have designed them. High contrast is a screen-only setting; it does not
affect the actual presentation, nor does it apply to the printed
presentation.
