Can't see cursor

How come I cannot see the cursor blinking? I hit delete and backspace and
the cursor does what it supposed to do (because it appears once it's back to
a line with writing on it), but I don't see it?

Try changing the zoom factor to 500% and back to 100%.

I cannot see the cursor in the middle of text either (it is a white line
cutting thru a letter or invisible if on a space or line break). I tried the
500% zoom and back to 100% --- nothing happened. The cursor was white even
in the 500% position. It is hard to find the cursor in a Word 2003 document
inorder to hightlight, correct, etc. In my 2000 Word, the cursor was a black
line whether it was positioned over a letter or elsewhere in the document.
