Since 2 months my Word 97-2003 run on a PC w Windows XP turned wacko. Cursor
blinked incessantly in the shape of a timeglass, backspace didn't work to
delete hightlighted words, and the cursor arrows made the cursor jump 1 line
and then half a page. Ie. impossible to work with this crap. I then installed
Word 2007. Now all is if possible even worse. Everything is immensely slow,
the PC is not listening, time glass is still there blinking. Deleting
highlighted words using backspace is now possible and the cursor arrows work,
- that is when PC-in-Word cares to listen to my keystrokes. Generally I have
to type 5 times or wait 10 secs for any reaction. Also, whenever I open a
document (incl a word 2007 doc) Word takes forever (a minute) to do I have no
idea what in ordee to discover oh wow this doc has more than one page. This
drives me up the wall. I am unable to work and very deeply displeased.
Totally inacceptable. My harddisk has lots of space, I have lots of memory on
the PC, I very recently defragmented it, and it has no virus problems. So
what am I to do ? - apart from reformatting the entire harddisk.

Thanks! - I do not have a printer attached to my laptop working here from
home these days but I now set as default printer the prigram Cutepdf writer
which creates pdfs. It seems that this solved the problem. Done is the hour
glass.

This is superb. Thanks again!
