Cant save or open

I just formated my computer the other say and now am having a problem
with all programs. Whenever I got to file>save or open the program
stops responding, sometimes the save window shows but as soon as I try
to change the folder it freezes but lately it dosent get that far. I
have to close the program by terminating it and I basically cant save
or open withing any program.

I have no idea what could be causing this, would appreciate some
pointer

Right-click on the My Computer icon on the Windows desktop,
left-click on Disconnect Network Drive, and disconnect any mapped
drives that are not currently available.
