I've tried unsuccessfully several times to run Norton Antivirus 2005 while in
Safe Mode. Each time I try a message pops up to report the error to
Microsoft, but that's it.

Has anyone had any experience with this issue?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Norton Antivirus 2005 is not designed to be run in Safe Mode.

Did you double-click on the Icon "Norton Internet Security" on the desktop?
If so, try starting Norton Anti-virus from the Start Menu. It will ask you
that you have limited options and do you want to perform a full system scan
now.

Does anyone have any idea why I can't open the program in Safe Mode?

Thanks

I also have the same problem.

While in safe mode, and logged in as administrator,I could not launch Norton
Internet Security 2005.The NIS 2005 icon is not displayed in the desktop.I
went to programs (it was listed there) and clicked on the icon.Windows
displays a message saying that they encountered an error with the "Symantec
Director",or something like that, and that it needed to close.

I uninstalled NIS,re booted, downloaded NIS again,re started in safe mode and
attempted again to launch NIS with the same results.

I believe NIS is not at fault since it runs perfectly in a normal boot
up.Symantec has not shown in their website this issue with Win XP/SP2
either...I`m reluctant to contact them about it since they charge($$$) for
this service.Oh,by the way,I also ran their diagnostic tool,to see if there
was something wrong with NIS in my computer and it did not turned up any
problems with the installation.
