can't right click!?

I can't right click-- at all!? I'm on a laptop, and this
has never happened before.

I rebooted
I ran AdAware, removed some misc. spyware, rebooted
(I just ran a virus checker a few days ago, but I don't
think it's going to do anything)
I made sure that drag & drop is on (in the Start menu),
still no deal

Also, and here's where I'm really confused, the Help &
Support function won't do anything when I click on it- I
hear the hd whirring a little, but nothing happens
So, what can I do? Right click worked yesterday and the
only thing I've done is upgrade OfficeXP last night, but
I'm pretty sure right clicking worked this morning. It just
*stopped* working suddenly, and I have no idea why!

Could someone please help- it's very difficult to use
Windows without the ability to right click! Thank you.

I just wanted to add that it works when I plug in my USB
mouse, but doesn't work when I use the actual buttons on my
laptop. :\

Go to your laptop manufacturer's website and see if there are updated
drivers for your touchpad.
