Can't right click desktop

For some reason I can not right click the desktop. I can right click on any
icon, but not the desktop itself. I see the blue circle thing, but then it
returns to a normal mouse. Another problem I am having with my desktop is
that items downloaded to it do not show up untill I change folder options or
restart. I am running Vista Ultimate RC1 (64-Bit). Can someone please help?
Thanks in advance.

Dealing with the context menu part of your question, try this.

Navigate to these registry keys:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer

In the right-pane of each key, double-click NoViewContextMenu and set the
value data to 0, if the value exists.

On the second one however, the folder explorer does exist but it does not
contain that key. Please help, thanks again.

No, Ben, there's no need to change anything in your registry. Sorry, but at
this point I don't have anymore ideas, as to your problem. I'll keep
pondering it and let you know if I think of something. You could try
creating a new temporary User Account (with Administrative Privileges) and
see if your problems occur logged on to that account. (You can delete the
account if this doesn't solve anything).

Any other ideas before I give up on Vista?
