Can't resize Vista toolbar

I experienced a bluescreen crash - when I was able to reboot, all the
programs that show up when you click the bottom left Windows button (you're
past history) had disappeared, all recent documents disaappeared (still there
on file explorer), cleartype was disabled and I can't resize the toolbar
anymore. I have right clicked on it and clicked on the checkmark for the
unlock, doesn't change, clicked on properties and then unclick the Lock
Toolbar and click apply - checkmark disappears, but toolbar is still
unlockable.

I have Vista Home Premium running on a Toshiba Satellite A215.

You should be able to simply re-enable Cleartype. Right-clicking the
taskbar and selecting "Lock the Taskbar" to deselect it will allow you to
resize again. If you've tried everything else to get your history back,
maybe you could try disabling the feature and then restarting, enabling
the history options once it's back up and running.

The cleartype is fine now - but there is no way to resize -the deselect
doesn't work - in fact, I had to turn off user permissions (I'm logged in as
the admin) because now I couldn't send emails - no permissions to write to
the temp directory. I was unable to run programs either. I think I need to
reload Vista - but it doesn't seem as though there's a "repair" option - I
don't want to have to reload everything.

Before doing a clean install, you may want to try reverting to a restore
point through System Restore that was made before you started having
problems. It sounds to me like there's a lot of wierdness happening on
your installation, making me wonder if you have a virus or some piece of
malware on your system.
