Toolbars In Vista

Why can't I detatch the toolbars I create from the task bar like I could in XP.
I unlock the task bar and I get the handle on the toolbar as it sits in the
task bar, but it will not drag to the desktop.
I am running Vista Home on my laptop and Vista Ultinmate on my Desktop.
Neither allow this.

How do I get my toolbars?

Drag any existing FOLDER to a monitor edge and it will become a toolbar.
From there you can add or remove anything you like. You can no longer detach
toolbars from the main taskbar.

Create a folder with the same shortcuts available in the Quicklaunch and
drag that folder to the edge of the screen to create your toolbar.

Wow. That is cool!
Months ago in some newsgroup (maybe this one) somebody tried to explain the
trick of moving a folder to teh edge of the screen. But I just couldn't
follow what they were saying. Now I get it.
I'd say this is definitely a feature of Vista that puts it ahead of XP.

Wow. Thank you all. I was very frustrated without my office toolbar, so this
helps. It's not perfect, but IT IS WAY BETTER THAN NOTHING.

Oh gee. I spoke too soon.

After I added all my shortcuts to the new "toolbar" they disappeared.

Why did that happen?
