Can't reduce tray to single line

I've somehow got my 'system tray' scrambled, so that I can't get it
back to my preference of a single line at the bottom. I can drag it
from to 2 to 3 lines or zero, but not to 1.

The Properties are as they should be. FWIW, I have 12 icons in the
'Quick Launch' area on the left, and 11 in the area on the right
(can't recall its proper label?). The middle section varies of course,
and at present has 4 items.

Any advice would be appreciated please.

Hi Terry,

Suggestions and Checkpoints:

This can happen by opening Accessibility Options, etc. If the icons on the
Quick Launch bar are showing as being larger, it will result in the taskbar
being twice its height and also include the date or similar under the clock.

If this is the case, right click the Desktop/Properties/Appearance/
Advanced. Under the Item drop box choose Caption Buttons and change the
number by one, ok your way out, then rest to 25.

And/or reset your default to the XP Theme.

Other options to consider if the above doesn't help, nor moving the glider
over toward the Start Button to list only three icons in the Quick Launch
bar:

Save Settings on Exit (Line 54)

To use the Regedit: Save the REG File to your hard disk. Double click it
and answer yes to the import prompt. REG files can be viewed in Notepad by
right clicking on the file and selecting Edit.

Using the glider (vertical line), try reducing the horizontal size of the
QuickLaunch area, which will then display fewer icons. However, there
will be an arrow at the right which when clicked will reveal all the QL
choices.

Then attempt to reduce the size of the taskbar.

You may have dragged the faint check 'handle' right of Q Launch so far
right that it has jumped down to the lower level, forcing a minimum
depth of two. Look just under the right end of the Start button; if it
is there drag up and right to just beyond the QL icons and it should
jump back.

Worth dragging the QL icons around to put them in a favorite order, then
dragging the handle so only the most important show all the time - there
will be a little arrow giving a drop down for the others
