Can't reactivate an agent

J

John

I disabled a couple agents, and now I cannot reactivate
them. Specifically "Process Execution" and "Script
Blocking" both show up as disabled. When I click on
the "Activate Checkpoint" the screen blinks, but the
status remains as deactivated.

Microsoft AntiSpyware Version: 1.0.501
Running on Windows XP Pro SP1.

BTW, I am having problems getting Windows Update to work.
Clicking on the links appear to do nothing now. (one of
the reasons I do not have SP2 yet).

Hi,
I have been able to reset the Agents with this hack. I
don't know if it will help you but you are welcome to
try. Other than uninstalling MS Antispyware and deleting
the Dir under program files and then reinstalling, you
can try these fixes in order.
BACK up the files below, before you remove them. Better
yet, you can rename the files. Before you try the steps
below, you will also want to Right-click over the MS
Antispyware icon in the bottom right corner and choose,
Shut down Microsoft Antispyware.

To kill the Security Agents Allow or Block list, go to
c:\program files\Microsoft Antispyware\
kill gcAgentsDataStoreData.gcd
and gcEventsData.gcd
Reboot

To kill user preferences....not sure what all is involved
here, but give it a try.
c:\program files\Microsoft Antispyware\gcUserData.gcd
Contains program preferences Kill the gcd file to start
over.
Reboot

Hi! I noticed this too. I never at any time
disabled "Process Execution" or "Script Blocking". Yet,
they are disabled and I can't enable them.

Version: 1.0.501
Running on Windows Xp Professional Sp2
