Can't print

When I try printing the task seems to hang (it says print
job is queued, bur no printing is happening). I then try
to cancel the print job but it does not disappear fromthe
task pane. If I shut my computer down when I restart it
the print job goes through. Does anyone know how to get
it to print the first time.
 
Navigate to the printer spool directory. Delete an file you find there. Try
a print job.

The spool directory is usually c:\windows\system\spool32\printer
