Cant print from office xp : after 2kpro sp4 install

dell laptop
[ latitude ]

was running 2k sp2 [happily]
installed sp4 [and rebooted]
machine now says that there are no printers installed when i choose print in
word...
notepad can print and so can excel - so it's not the printer
and it's not office

any hints or tips ?

will just reinstall word if not...

I would imagine so... if excel can print...
