Logged in with administrator rights, I tried to install SP4 on a Dell Laptop
Latitude with W2k SP3. When setup is archiving, I got this message: "SP4
could not backup registry key:
HKLM\software\microsoft\windows\currentversion\setup\Exceptioncomponents to
file C:\winnt\$NTServicepackuninstall$\reg 0005. 5: access is denied."
When I click 'ignore' I got the same message for the key
HKLM\Software\microsoft\windows\currentversion\setup\OC
Manager\Subcomponents,\'autoupdate'. 5: access denied.
Again after a click on 'ignore' I become "Access denied" and "Select OK to
undo changes that have been made or select 'cancel' to quit. If you select
'cancel' your system will be left in a partially update state and may not
work correctly".
I click OK and retried to start all over, but the same messages always
appear. Any suggestions?
Thanks!
