Can't ping HP T5700 thin clients

I'm new to Windows XPe and the HP T5700 thin clients. I noted today that I
am unable to get the T5700s to repond to a "ping" from another machine on
the network. The T5700s can initiate outbound pings from the "cmd" window,
however..

Is the ability to respond to an inbound "ping" something that was removed
from Windows XPe to save space? Does anyone have any suggestions as how to
get inbound "ping" response working??

Is the firewall on the NIC enabled and ICMP 'allow incoming echo request' is
turned off?
