cant ping each other, but can share the internet

Hi there
have two pcs connected in a network by the g54 buffalo and a buffalo pci
device
both computers can share the internet, but the computers cannot ping each
other, or see each others files (have tried using xp wizard.. sharing does
not seem to work)
btw both pcs are Win xp

now i have them pinging each other..but they still cant see each other ...
