Can't paste from clipboard from Access table

I tried to copy and paste some records from MS Access into Excel today and
nothing pasted. So I tried other cut and paste from various apps and
nothing will copy from this Access database to any other app except the
contents of one cell. Other copying and pasting in other apps seems to work.

For some reason something is wrong with the clipboard. When I copy
something from any app, the clipboard shows as empty in all apps, and there
is no paste option, just a greyed out paste all. If I copy some text, then
copy from Access, paste will paste the text, not the second copy which was
from Access, as though it doesn't know how to copy from access.

I tried a clear clipboard VB code routine I found which doesn't show any
execution errors but doesn't seem to clear the clipboard, which shows as
empty anyway.

I have run Sophos Antivirus and Ad-Aware and found nothing out of place.

How do I restore my clipboard back to where it works properly in Access and
other apps?

Now I am getting messages "Cannot empty the clipboard" when I try to copy so
I can paste within Excel, so it may be an Excel issue rather than Access. I
can't even select one cell to copy to another without the message showing
up, and if I select some of the contents of a cell I can't paste it; nothing
happens.
