Can't Open Windows Explorer, My computer , IE etc

i think I may have been hit with a virus or spyware...

When I try opening "my Computer" or "My Documents" on XP Home edition....all
I see is my Desktop Background appear (no desktop icons) taskbar dissapears
and then the desktop comes back to life...no windows explorer running?

I remmber this being a spyware or virus problem a while back on this
board...anyone know how I can fix this.

Spybot and adware did not find anything when i ran it..but they were already
installed before i got these symptoms

I have XP Home with SP2....should i re-install something?

Click Start, Run and type eventvwr.msc
Select Application entry in the left pane
In the right-pane, look for the Error entry denoted by a Red X

Sort by date and track-down the entry based on what time the error exactly
occurred. Locate and double-click the entry and you'll see more information
in the resulting dialog. Click the copy button at the top and copy the whole
event and paste it to a Notepad document and save it. Post the information
here.
