Can't open web saved images.

on the web doing the normal 'right click on a
picture', 'save as' then only two choices bitmap or .art.
When I've saved my picture, regardless of the format
chosen in the save as section, the picture appears as a
Jpeg which I can't open in photoshop, paint or picture
viewer.
Any one heard of this before? I've tried in AOL and
explorer to no avail.

Turn off image compression in AOL and redownload the image.
