Cant open User files on New XP OS

I have a notebook hard drive now in an exteranl
enclosure now on a new PC with XP thru a USB port.
On XP with the new XP on the PC I cant open any
files under my old user/admin thru this PC.
How can i open and save the files from my old hard
drive with a different user and OS??? thx
