Cant open text document

Hello

I created a text document on the desktop, and now when i try to open it i
get access denied. i have ownership of it. Infact now any text documents
around my pc get access denied when trying to open. also any help files dont
seem to open either, again i get access denied. I can choose open with but
dont no what help file open with, as fo my text document i can choose open
with notepad and it will but i must do it everytimreany help much
appreciated.
