Access denied after restoring backup

I backed up my documents and settings to an internal hard drive and then
tattooed and reinstalled XP Media Center sp2. Now, after restoring the
backup, I get anm access denied error when I try to open the folder I
restored it to.
I've been told it's to do with administrative priveleges but no one has been
able to help me further than that. Can anyone help?
