Can't open & save the attachment in Window Mail

Guest

1) Have been clear the "Do not allow attachment to be saved or opened that
could potentially be a viris"check box from Tools menu(Option ~Security Tab).

2) Unable directly save & download the attached file.
Error msg " There was an error saving one or more of the attachments ,
please check your free disk space and try again"
But, the attached file only 42KB & my PC disk space is 60% availaible.

This was cause a ot of inconvenience, due to unable to open the attached
directly.
All the time, i have to forward to my hotmail acc , then i able to open my
customer attachment.

Cause a lot of time to do all this.
Please advise !!

What antivirus did you remove? If it was from Norton or McAfee,
you need to run the cleanup tool for it:

<http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/tsgeninfo.nsf/docid/2005033108162039>

<http://service.mcafee.com/FAQDocument.aspx?id=107083&lc=4105&partner=McAfee&type=TS&ia=1>

You may also need to delete the email account under Windows Mail
and create it again.

This fix sometimes helps with other problems reporting low free disk
space in Windows Mail, so you might download and install it with
Windows Mail not running:

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/941090

If you don't know whether to use the 32-bit version or the 64-bit
version, try the 32-bit version first.

What is the part of the filename of the attachment starting with the last
period? You may not have the software needed to open such
attachments installed.

Are the attachments sent by someone using Outlook? If so, they are
probably in the RTF format, which Windows Mail doesn't understand,
so you would need to install Outlook to be able to open them.

I am curious, in what way do you consider Windows Live Mail
not to be the equal of Windows Mail? People often have
misconceptions about what WLM is.

I was only trying to save you the time and trouble of trying to fix
WM, because it sounds like a difficult problem to fix.
It is rather doubtful that Microsoft will come out with any more fixes
for WM, now that its replacement (WLM) has been released.

IS THIS NOT RIDICULOUS THAT PEOPLE HAVE TO HELP EACH OTHER BECAUSE MICROSOFT
MADE SUCH A DIFFICULT SYSTEM THAT THEY PROBABLY DON’T UNDERSTAND IT
THEMSELVES ANYMORE.
IT SHOULD BE CLIENT FRIENDLY AND EASY TO WORK WITH AND A SECURITY SYSTEM
SHOULD AT LEAST UNDERSTANDABLE FOR ADULT WHO MOSTLY HAS TO IMPLICATE IT.
MICROSOFT POSSIBLE DOESN’T UNDERSTAND THAT NOT EVERSYONE WANT TO USE THESE
FUTURES.

It is easy to use... but some people seem to have trouble finding the Caps
Lock key, and knowing how to post and spell.

Most people are not having problems. What you see here, other than the
volunteers, are only those that do.
You will find newsgroups and/or forums for a myriad of computer related
issues. Does that mean the programs are not user friendly? (rhetorical
question)

If you want to be taken seriously use punctuation and turn off your caps
lock, it is consider shouting and rude.

I had the same problem. As one person wrote, you do have to download
anti-virus software. There's a free on on www.mozilla.com for email called
Thunderbird. It worked right away for me. Good luck.

AFAIK, Thunderbird is an email client (like Windows Mail), not an
anti-virus.
