Can't open Quick Launch toolbar

M

Mike Miller

Using XP Pro - When I logged in this morning, the Address
Bar, Links and Quick Launch toolbars were no longer
displayed on my Task Bar - they were yesterday and were
working fine. I was able to right-click on the Task Bar
and re-display the Address Bar and Links toolbar, but when
I try to display the Quick Launch toolbar, I get an
error "cannot create toolbar." I tried to create a new
toolbar and get the same error. I checked for the Quick
Launch folder under Documents and Settings/username/...
and it is still there and all of the shortcuts are still
there. Any ideas on what happened overnight?

Hey Mike,

I think I found a site that will help you with this problem. Go to
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/taskbarplus!.htm and scroll down a bit until
you see Quick Launch. The first link under this heading will run a vbs
script file that should fix your problem.

Let me know if this works,

To the Questioner:

The QuickLaunch folder must be present in this location:
C:\Documents and Settings\<UserName>\Application Data\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch
And the AppData registry value must be correct [pointing to the above location]

Run the fix created by MVP Doug Knox for this issue: Error Creating Toolbar:
